Ethical travel done right

At Kamaroutes, we are proud to uphold the highest standards in responsible tourism. As a long-standing member of the Southern Africa Tourism Services Association (SATSA), we remain dedicated to ethical wildlife encounters and sustainable travel experiences.

SATSA is a leading industry body that ensures inbound tourism operators meet rigorous quality and ethical benchmarks, working alongside prestigious partners like South African Tourism and World Travel Market. Our membership reflects our commitment to excellence and responsible tourism practices.

Since joining SATSA in 2019, we have maintained a firm stance against exploitative wildlife tourism. We do not promote or include any of the following unethical activities in our tours:

  • Performing animals (circus shows, forced tricks)
  • Tactile interactions with infant animals (petting cubs, bottle-feeding)
  • Walking with elephants or predators
  • Tactile interactions with predators or cetaceans
  • Riding wild animals (elephant rides, ostrich riding)

Instead, we focus on ethical wildlife experiences—supporting sanctuaries with credible rehabilitation programs, responsible safaris, and conservation-focused encounters that prioritize animal welfare.
