Kamaroutes wins Travelife Certified award

We are proud (and honestly, a little emotional) to share that Kamaroutes has been awarded Travelife Certified status — the highest level of sustainability certification a tour operator can achieve.

This isn’t a small thing for us. It’s the result of years of quiet, unglamorous work: rethinking how we run our office, how we choose partners, how we talk to travelers about the places we take them, and how we try to leave those places better than we found them.

What Travelife Certified actually means

Travelife is the leading sustainability certification for tour operators and travel agencies worldwide, and its standards are formally recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). Getting there isn’t a one-step process — it’s a three-stage journey:

(1) Travelife Engaged — committing to the program and starting the groundwork
(2) Travelife Partner — implementing sustainability practices and reporting progress
(3) Travelife Certified — full compliance with 200+ criteria, verified through an independent, on-site audit

We are now at stage three. That means an outside auditor came in, checked our practices against Travelife’s standards for things like emissions, biodiversity protection, fair labour practices, and animal welfare — and confirmed we meet the mark.

Why this matters to us

Responsible travel should give back, not just take less. Our work with local communities, conservation efforts, and sustainable development in the destinations we operate in isn’t new, it’s something we have believed in from day one. This certification is an external, independent confirmation of that commitment, not the start of it.
