Day tour - Your game drive itinerary
Your horseback safari experience typically begins with a briefing at the stables located near St. Lucia. You will be matched with a suitable horse based on your experience level and receive any necessary instructions.
- Bush Rides (1 or 2 hours): These rides can be arranged at various times of day to suit your preference. They take you into the Southern end of the Eastern Shores section of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. You'll ride alongside Zebra, Wildebeest, Warthog, Impala, and other plains game. Keep an eye out for occasional sightings of the elusive Leopard, and possibly Buffalo and Elephant in the distance.
- Beach and Bush Combo Ride (2.5 hours): This combo ride blends coastal beauty with bush adventure, beginning with your horses leading you down to the ocean. This initial beach portion is dependent on low tide and typically operates 2 hours either side of the lowest tide. You'll head either North towards First Rocks or South towards Lake St Lucia, riding along the water's edge. During the whale season (June to November), you might sometimes see Humpback Whales breaching out in the deeper water. The other half of the ride transitions to the savanna, where you can ride between various animals such as Zebra, Wildebeest, Warthogs, and other plains game.
At the end of your ride, you will return to the stables, concluding your adventure.

Do I need prior horseback riding experience?
No, not at all! This tour is designed to be suitable for all experience levels, from complete novices to experienced riders. Our expert guides will match you with a suitable horse and provide a safety briefing and basic instructions.
Are there any age or weight restrictions?
For bush rides, the minimum age is 6 years old. For the combo rides, riders must be at least 8 years old. A maximum weight limit of 85 kg applies to all riders.
What should I wear and bring for the tour?
We recommend wearing long pants (jeans or comfortable trousers), closed-toe shoes (ideally with a small heel, but trainers are usually acceptable), and comfortable clothing. Don't forget sunscreen, a hat (that fits snugly or can be secured), sunglasses, and your camera. Helmets are provided.
Are last minute bookings allowed?

What if I do not speak English?
