Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean off the coast of East Africa. It is home to many beaches, coral reefs and nature reserves. Mahé, the best base for visiting the other islands, is home to the capital Victoria. As the capital of Mahé, Victoria has several historical monuments retracing the past of Seychelles and its architectural evolution. Grand Anse Beach is one of the recommended areas for surfing in Seychelles, while Anse Cocos Beach is renowned for its white sand and natural pools between the rocks. Le Morne National Park has a network which allows you to discover the local flora and fauna, through a guided tour. For nature lovers, this is a must!

Tortoise of Aldabra

Besides the Galapagos, the Seychelles is the only other place on Earth where you can admire giant tortoises in the wild. Local land turtles belong to an endemic species that can reach 1.2 meters and 250 kilos, and whose life expectancy exceeds 150 years. Seychelles thus has the largest population of giant tortoises in the world, with more than 150,000 individuals living mainly on the small atoll of Aldabra.
