Travel Itinerary

9:00 am - Hotel pickup and drive to Langa

Molo! Your journey begins with a convenient pickup from your accommodation (between 8:30am - 9am), followed by a scenic drive to Langa. Along the way, your knowledgeable driver will provide an introduction to the history of the townships, with a special focus on District Six and Langa. Langa was where many Apartheid policies were first implemented but also become famous for its uprising against the Apartheid system.

Upon arriving in Langa, you will be introduced to your local resident guide. Your tour will begin at the Langa Dompass Museum, for exhibits on Apartheid. Afterwards, your guide will lead you on a walking tour through the streets of Langa. He will share personal insights and stories about the township's history and culture. You will get to interact with friendly locals, and experience the unique atmosphere of this community. As you walk, you will encounter skilled artisans and visit the craft market, filled with colourful stalls, where you can purchase souvenirs. You will also tour 16 on Lerotholi, an art gallery co-founded by 4 friends.

The tour also includes a stop at Guga S'thebe, a local arts center, where non-profit organizations teach skills to local youth. Here, you will participate in a Djembé drumming session, learning the rhythm of Langa with the guidance of experienced instructors. You will also witness local artisans crafting pottery.

Upon request, the following can be arranged:

  • Traditional Beer tasting
  • A visit to the traditional healer (depending on availability)
  • A visit of a local brewery for a taste of Umqobothi, an african beer
  • A visit to the kindergarten or the orphanage
  • Family visits
  • Attending a church service (Sundays only)
  • A taste of Langa's famous sheep heads

After exploring Langa, your tour will continue to the city center for a delicious lunch (At your expense).

14:00 - District Six and Bo-Kaap

Delve into the past at the District Six Museum (closed on Sundays), a reminder of the forced removals that shaped Cape Town's history. Finally, immerse yourself in the vibrant colors and culture of Bo-Kaap, a historic Cape Malay neighborhood renowned for its colorful architecture and delicious cuisine.

Our tour concludes with a relaxing drive back to your hotel.
